Voluntary Sector Forum

Voluntary Sector Forum Representatives from all voluntary and community organsiations are invited to attend and influence the focus of a new Voluntary Sector Forum. The date of the first meeting will be Wednesday 23rd May, 9am for 9.30 start at County Hall, Newport. As some of you may know the Health and Well Being Board is the relatively new, statutory body where the key local holders of public sector funding will come together to agree and address shared Island priorities. Its remit as the name suggests goes well beyond just health and addresses overall individual and community well being in its widest sense and effectively replaces the Island Strategic Partnership as was.Its Terms of reference can be read here.

Members of the Health and Well Being Board recognise that it is vital that the views and knowledge of voluntary and community groups across the Island have a way of influencing its strategies, decision-making and delivery and it is intended that this new Voluntary Sector Forum will meet on a quarterly basis and will provide the place voluntary and community groups can collect and collate their views and thoughts and pass them on to the Health and Well Being Board on a regular basis. Beyond this core focus, the Forum will be used to provide updates across a range of issues, such as training and development, safeguarding and other items that either directly or indirectly affect local voluntary and community efforts to deliver improved Island services. These elements will evolve over time with attendee input. The Forum would also provide the opportunity for specific groups of organisations to take advantage of being in the same place at the same time and have their own meetings, for example it is proposed that the Children and Young Persons Network would hold its regular meeting immediately following the Forum. Alternatively there may be an opportunity for a break out group to discuss a specific issue/policy/consultation or to tie it in with a short training session on a particular item. If you intend to come please can you email sara.ellis@iwrcc.org.uk Also if you have any thoughts on how the forum might work, what else you might like to see on the agenda, please let Sara know. The final agenda will be confirmed nearer the time once people have had time to provide feedback.
