Three New Training Events From Rural Community Council
Saturday 25TH February - MOT your Constitution 10.30-12.30
When was your Governing Document written?
Is it fit to let you do what you want to do to develop the organisation in an ever changing world?
Whether you have a Trust Deed, Constitution or Memorandum and Articles of Association for your Governing Document, you should still review it regularly.
This short 2 hour event shows what you should have in your document, and how to go about changing it.
We will also dispel a few myths about the word ‘Trustee'
2 hours for only £15 - unbelievable value
Monday 27th February - Effective Chairmanship 5.30pm-7pm
What exactly is the role of the Chairperson at a meeting?
All too often the Chairperson's job is taken over at a time of stress in the organisation. The new Chair may have no previous knowledge or skills in chairing meetings and their only experience is seeing how it was done before (often badly)
This 90 minute session could turn you into the best informed Chairperson your organisation has ever had!
Incredible value at only £10 per person.
Why not book for the two sessions - Chairmanship and Minute taking?
Monday 27th February - Minute taking 7.30pm-9pm
Why are minutes taken at meetings?
What is the legal requirement for minutes?
What should be included? Left out?
Whether you are new to minute taking or just want to brush up your skills, this 90 minute session will tell you all you need to know.
Learn how to stop your minutes running for hours
Incredible value at only £10 per person. At this price, places are being snapped up.

Riverfest 2012
Come along and celebrate voluntary and community sector efforts to make the Island a better place. As part of the 2012 Riverfest a large section of Medina Quay will be set aside for charities, community groups and social enterprises to come along and show the Island what they do, networking, perhaps raise a little money, perhaps gain a volunteer or two.
If you want to get involved in what promises to be a fantastic and busy day (4000+ visitors last year), please check out the further information on the website. A booking form can be downloaded from here

Wootton Bridge historical website
Take a look at the ‘internationally successful' Wootton Bridge historical website. Revamped in 2009 as founding member Roy Murphy recounts "In 2009 decided we needed professional help, this costs money and we were two retired people, we were very fortunate when a professional web designer offered to help, he pointed out that our existing presentation was not web friendly and a complete revamp was required, he offered services free for a limited time. The site now has around "2500 pictures of island" based information/pictures, together with a substantial amount of historical data." He goes on to say "The revamped website has a world wide audience. Last year it had 112,000 visitor numbers, 543,500 pages viewed 543,500 and if this month's current trend continues for the year these figures will be surpassed again."

Furniture FREE to voluntary sector groups and organisations
The Isle of Wight Council is undergoing a series of changes to its offices and working practices which has resulted in a number of items becoming surplus to requirements. The council would like to offer these free of charge on a first come first served basis to any voluntary organisation, community group, ‘not for profit' or third sector organisation that could benefit from them. The items are primarily furniture including chairs, tables, desks and filing solutions however this list is not exhaustive. Non office based items such as heaters, fans, fridges and much more will also become available. If you are interested in being on the mailing list to receive details and photos when items become available then please email Kieran Tarrant on kieran.tarrant@iow.gov.uk with your group or organisation name, a contact name and email address.
Computers available now for disabled and less-enabled
Computability is an IW non-registered charity www.cfd-iw.org.uk part of the IW PC User Group www.iwpcug.org which collects used computers, checks them over and makes them available to disabled or less-enabled people or any sympathetic organisation. Please feel free to ask if you require one - at the moment we have a slight surplus of stock and would be happy to help out. Phone 529850 or 822900.
