Networks

As outlined in the Voluntary Sector Cabinet section, it is proposed that a range of networks be represented in the Cabinet to provide an effective voice for the sector and it is hoped that information regarding all these networks will be made available on the RCC website in the coming weeks.

It is increasingly difficult for organisations working alone to influence developments taking place in their local area, where the Public Sector is looking for ways to engage with organisations and individuals, to consult with them and work in partnership to develop new approaches to the commissioning and delivery of services.

It is anticipated that the proposed Cabinet structure, supported by a cross section of identified partnerships/networks will create a mechanism through which the sector can be effectively represented, through which high quality responses to consultations can be made, through which the views of Island residents and service users can better be heard.

In addition strong networks do in their own right, provide a forum to share information and good practice and develop opportunities for working together to deliver better support and services to Island residents and potentially to identify the best way of responding to the developing contract culture.
