The Compact

The Compact is the term given to the document that helps to define the relationship between the voluntary and community sector and the Government and its agencies. It is the starting point for developing and improving partnership working between the sectors based on shared values and mutual respect.

The most recent version of the local Compact was published in 2005 and previously a Compact working group existed to promote its adoption in everyday working practices.

This working group has not met regularly in the last 2 years and the current Compact document is in need of review.

Both these issues are currently being addressed and it is hoped that a new Compact Strategy Group will meet before Christmas 2007 with representatives from the Voluntary Sector Cabinet, the Isle of Wight Council and the Isle of Wight Primary Care Health Trust participating.
