Sports Council

The Isle of Wight Sports and Recreation Council exists to bring together local sports organisations. It also co-operates with the Local Authority by placing at its disposal the experience of voluntary organisations that work in sport and act in an advisory capacity on matters concerning the provision and maintenance of all types of sporting facilities. The Councils strength is in its assorted membership and all are welcome to become members

The IWSRC has over the intervening years:

♦   Encouraged and supported proposals for increased or improved leisure facilities
♦   Acted as consultee for Lottery Grants
♦   Contributed to the Hampshire and IW Association of Local Sports Councils
♦   Responded to planning applications
♦   Organised the annual Sports Achievement Awards
