Island Community Ventures

The Isle of Wight Rural Community Council is pleased to announce the official launch of its trading subsidiary, Island Community Ventures Limited - a company with a distinct and unique outlook. Unique, because all of its profits will go to fund support for the Island's voluntary and community sector.

The company plans to operate viable businesses such as village shops, post offices, cafes and tourist attractions and all profits will be used to fund the work the IW Rural Community Council undertakes to support voluntary and community efforts on the Island.

"A professionally run business where customers get a great deal and local voluntary and community groups get the benefit of all the profits" is how Michael Bulpitt, the Chief Executive of the Isle of Wight Rural Communities Council (IWRCC) and a founding Director of Island Community Ventures explains the concept.
The other two voluntary Directors are highly respected champions of Island initiatives; Richard Priest, OBE, IWRCC Chairman and General Manager of the Riverside Centre and Lt Col David Langford , a former High Sheriff of the Island.
David Langford comments "We recognise that we are living in challenging times and that all businesses are facing increasing pressures. Island Community Ventures will build on the skills of experienced people rooted in the community, strengths that will enable this initiative to develop".
